Enhanced Wellbeing Support
The return to school after the disruption and uncertainty of Covid-19 national lock downs has been difficult for many students. Recognising this, St Martin's School has invested heavily in enhancing its already effective wellbeing support. The Wellbeing Team, led by ALNCo Kate Richards, has increased its provision for emotional literacy support to complement its already comprehensive support package. The school currently employs a Registered Nurse, Sara Cox, who has begun group and 1-to-1 sessions to ensure students get the targeted support they need. Moreover, a Mental Health Support Assistant has been newly appointed. Jordan Storey is working with students to make the transition back into school life as smooth as possible. Finally, the school acknowledged the need for more intensive support for key students and arranged with Caerphilly County Borough Council for a team of six Assistant Educational Psychologists and a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy specialist to visit school regularly to work with these students. St Martin's is committed to ensuring that its students' emotional wellbeing is nurtured as well as their academic progress.
